The Good, The Bad, and The Other: Some of Subset's First, Favorite, and Not so Great Shows We've Seen.

It's concert season. Seeing live music is always an experience. Sometimes great, sometimes falls a little flat. Often one finds themselves at a show for no reason other than it is something to do. Other times seeing your favorite musical artist is the culmination of fandom, and is a life changing experience. Here are a few of the shows that our team has personally seen, good bad and otherwise. MattFirst Concert:Jerry Jeff Walker1986, Chico Hot SpringsJerry Jeff Walker was an American country music and folk singer-songwriter. He was a leading figure in the outlaw country music movement. He was best known for having written the 1968 song "Mr. Bojangles". ChuckFirst Concert:Michael Bolton1998, Fiddler's Green Amphitheater, Greenwood Village, COYes I know. Michael Bolton? Really? Yes. I was visiting my older sister in Denver when she got free tickets from a co-worker. Since I had never been to a real concert we gave it a try. Though I had low expectations, it was a ton of fun. What can I say? The guy is a heck of a performer.  Favorite Concert:Kanye West - Glow in the Dark TourApr 16, 2008, Kay Arena, Seattle, WaAs a self proclaimed “salty old head” this time frame would be what I consider to be the height of Kanye’s musical career (open to argument). But Yeezy was not the main motivation to see the show. The star studded opening acts including Rihanna, Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D, Santigold and Nas were the real attraction. JakeFirst Concert:Beach Boys and Creedence Clearwater RevivalCheyenne Frontier Days (1999)Sure, this was neither band’s peak and each ensemble was missing key members. But listening to their classic tunes from the front row of a world-famous rodeo arena still made for quite the show. Best Concert:John Butler TrioRed Rocks (2008)This concert is the definition of exceeding expectations. I both knew of the band and the venue, but I really had no idea just how fantastic both were. John Butler Trio wowed the crowd with its funky roots rock and speaking for rock, the venue itself shined. From the sun drenched Red Rocks at the beginning of the show, to the stellar sunset to the optically engaging light show once the stars came out it was a concert for the ages. His integration of pop and rock elements into the country genre has earned him popularity, particularly in the United States with success on the country music single and album charts, multi-platinum recordings and record-breaking live performances, while also crossing over into the mainstream pop arena. BenBest Concert:AC/DCPepsi Center (2008)It doesn't get much better live than AC/DC HylehFirst concert:Sara Evans at Sea World in 2008.Magical. You were born to fly. Best concert: Turnpike Troubadours at a street dance in Lubbock, TX.The perfect amount of yee and haw.  Worst concert: Cardi B played at a car show one time in 2016 somewhere in Dallas and it was actually so bad.
