Apple pie, hot dogs, red, white and blue popsicles, American flag tank tops. These are iconic images of Americana often on full display during Independence Day.
But the Fourth of July, wouldn’t be a complete celebration without the array of miniature pyrotechnics on display each year. The Subset team compiled our favorite fireworks, from awesome to epic in honor of our nation’s birthday.
Sparklers: Perhaps the simplest, and most classic of all the fireworks, the understated sparkler ensures almost anybody can get in on the festivities without the risk of losing a finger.
Poppers: These little pouches of gunpowder deliver hours of entertainment. Enjoyment for those tossing them, and more than likely annoyment for having to listen to the incessant popping.
Black Cats: The quintessential firework, black cats are the gateway to the world of explosions on the Fourth. From their ASMR-worthy craft-paper-esque packaging to their satisfying pop, either one at a time or all at once. These remain a staple of the holiday.
Snakes: Possible the most hypnotic of the fireworks, the subtle snake simply slithers and grows in mesmerizing patterns upon ignition. Much like sparklers and poppers, these entry-level fireworks provide a contrast their more explosive counterparts.
Parachutes: Nothing like launching a toy soldier into the atmosphere and watching them safely (usually) float down back to the ground. A perfect choice for daytime fun, before the rest of the list lights up the night sky.
Bottle Rockets: Are they dangerous? Perhaps. Are they some of the most enjoyable fireworks on this list? Absolutely. The iconic bottle rocket is like a miniature missile that enthusiasts can launch into the sky.
Roman Candles: A perennial favorite, Roman Candles deliver a rhythmic display of luminous orbs that shoot into the sky. Their steady stream of colorful fireballs is both hypnotic and enchanting, making them a great centerpiece.
Artillery Shells: A Fourth of July celebration would not be complete without Artillery Shells. These pyrotechnics transform the night sky into a dazzling canvas of colors.
