Seven-Day Spring Cleaning Challenge

Spring cleaning season has arrived. And for all those of us that are eager to embrace our inner Marie Kondo or Mr. Clean, the idea of a deep clean can be – well, daunting.

Rome wasn't built in a day, so don't have a strict timeline for your quest to have an immaculate home. Instead of dreading it or struggling where to start, we invite you to take on a 7-day spring cleaning challenge.

Creating smaller daily goals makes the task more manageable and increases your chances of sticking to it instead of becoming frustrated and overwhelmed.

Let's take on a 7-day spring cleaning challenge together. Here's how to get started.

Day 1: Declutter

Before you can start cleaning, you need to get rid of the excess clutter that has accumulated over the winter months. Go through each room in your house and declutter by removing items you no longer need or use. This includes clothes, shoes, and household items. Donate, sell or recycle what you can, and throw away the rest.

Day 2: Kitchen Scrub Down

The kitchen is the heart of the home and can easily become a mess. Start by emptying the pantry and wiping down shelves. Scrub the oven and stove top, clean the microwave and dishwasher, and disinfect countertops and polish cabinets. Don't forget to clean the fridge, inside and out.

Day 3: Make Your Bathroom Sparkle

Bathrooms can be breeding grounds for bacteria and germs, so it's important to give them a deep clean. Scrub the toilets, sinks, and tub or shower. Wipe down the mirrors and cabinets. Clean the floors and walls. Finally, organize your bathroom cabinets and discard expired products.

Day 4: Living Room and Bedrooms Deep Clean

The living room and bedrooms are often the most used rooms in the house. Vacuum carpets, clean windows and mirrors, and dust surfaces. Wash bedding and curtains. Organize books, magazines, and other items.

Day 5: Get Outdoorsy

Spring cleaning isn't just about the inside of your home. Spend the final day of your challenge cleaning the outside of your home. Sweep porches and patios, wash windows, and clean outdoor furniture. Rake leaves and plant flowers to spruce up your outdoor space.

Day 6: Tackle your junk drawer

Yes. That one place where you put everything that doesn't have a place. It's time to clean that out. Test all the pens and get rid of the ones that don’t work. Toss those old papers you no longer need or file more important ones away for safekeeping. Buy some organizers so your pens, batteries, chargers, and odd ends all have a specific place. You’ll be surprised how much you find that you no longer need. Bonus tip, put all the coins you find in a jar and begin saving them in one sport if you haven’t already.

Day 7: Enjoy it

On this final day kick back and enjoy all the benefits of your pristine domicile. A clean home can have a positive impact on your overall well-being and quality of life. Clean living spaces reduce stress and promote relaxation, allowing you to feel more comfortable and at ease in your surroundings.

A well-maintained dwelling can also promote better health, as it reduces the presence of allergens, dust, and other pollutants that can negatively affect your respiratory system. By taking steps to maintain a clean home, you can create a space that is not only visually appealing but also promotes a healthy and positive lifestyle.

The 7-day spring cleaning challenge can be a perfect way to rejuvenate your home and start the new season with a fresh and clean space. By following these steps, you can manage the cleaning process one day at a time, making it more attainable and less intimidating. Happy spring cleaning!
