Super Bowl LIX: The Game? Meh. The Ads? A Different Story.
Super Bowl LIX wasn’t exactly a nail-biter. The Philadelphia Eagles soared past the two-time reigning champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, and never let them catch up.
The game? A one-sided affair. But at least the halftime show (sorry, Drake—Kendrick took this one with ease too) and the commercials gave us something to talk about.
Here are some of the standout ads from 2025:
Stella Artois – "David & Dave: The Other David"
David Beckham and his brother “Other David” (played by Matt Damon) don’t seem to share much in common—until they discover their shared love of Stella Artois.
Mountain Dew – "Kiss From a Lime"
Much like the flavor profile of Baja Blast, you don’t really know what’s in this ad—other than it’s weird and somehow still delicious. An anthropomorphized ‘90s star retools his number-one hit as an ode to the Dew.
Angel Soft – "Potty-tunity"
Nothing says anti-ad like a self-aware, sponsored potty break. Angel Soft did its best to get viewers to make the most of their “Potty-tunity” right before the halftime show.
Jeep – "Owner’s Manual"
If Americans won’t listen to Han Solo/Indiana Jones delivering a speech on the importance of coming together, not sure they’ll listen to anyone. The spot also recognized the time-honored “Jeep wave” and poked a subtle jab at the car company Harrison Ford wasn’t pitching.
Uber Eats – "A Century of Cravings"
Don Draper meets conspiracy theorist. In this ad, Matthew McConaughey continues his season-long quest to prove football is nothing more than a vehicle to make people hungry.
Because if the game isn’t going to deliver, the ads better.
